The Genoa (Neb.) Times

In a recent issue of The Genoa Times it appears that our Baptist friends have insisted that Christian Science is "neither sane, sound, nor Scriptural." Assuming that the words sane and sound are thrown in only for their alliterative value, it is proper to direct our attention to the remaining question as to whether or not Christian Science is Scriptural, and in this we are greatly aided by the Scriptural references given in the published article, which quoted in full offer a fair epitome of what Christian Science is and furnish an all-sufficient basis for the claim that Christian Science is Scriptural. These quotations are: "Why should ye be stricken any more?" "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other . . . But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law." "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is." "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."

Christian Science is a sincere effort, attended with remarkable success, to reestablish the religion founded, taught, and practised by Jesus of Nazareth. Christian Scientists seek no quarter, but boldly ask to be measured by the Master's teachings and his works, and to be judged with the charity which human frailty must have, by the proof daily offered of healing from bodily ills, from sorrow, and from fear, while here and now preparing to meet our God.
