I am very glad to have the opportunity of expressing my gratitude for all the brightness that has come into my life since first hearing of Christian Science about four years ago. At that time I was suffering from a severe internal trouble, for which all known remedies had been tried, besides strenuous treatment at Contrexeville, France, for two years, but without success. The attacks of pain would last from one to four days, and an opiate had to be administered at intervals.

I was afraid to go out alone, and was not allowed to go to any place which was not within reach of a doctor. Having been brought up very strictly, I was disappointed to find that my religion did not seem to help me at all. The specialist and doctor, whose kindness had always been unfailing, both said frankly that the only operation likely to help was a more risky one than they would advise me to undergo. This seemed to me the last straw, and I was ready to try anything that held out a ray of hope.

My sister, who had heard considerable of Christian Science, then urged me to go with her to see a practitioner, and I accordingly did so, but in a frame of mind which was a mixture of skepticism and fear. A few minutes' conversation, however, showed how little I had understood, and from that time it became clear that Christian Science would give a consistent explanation of all the difficulties that had ever troubled me. The practitioner gave me treatment, with the result that after three weeks I was able to walk about, run, and even play tennis, something I had not been able to do for years. After fifteen months' complete freedom I had one more attack, and with this the cause of the whole trouble passed away. My husband then became interested in Christian Science, and we have since had innumerable instances of its healing power. It is of incalculable value in the bringing up of our three little children, as well as in all the emergencies of every-day life.
