As to whether or not Christian Science is a contradiction...

The Patriot

As to whether or not Christian Science is a contradiction of the Scriptures, or is in strict accord therewith at every point, no one today need remain long in doubt. Public libraries are amply supplied with Christian Science literature, and all may inform themselves of the truth about Christian Science at first hand, without resorting to literature or biased opinion intended to misinterpret and mislead.

A critic's remarks, pertaining to Mrs. Eddy, in a recent issue, are untrue, as may be ascertained by a study of her life. Wherever Mrs. Eddy was known the best, she was esteemed the highest, as evidenced in the remarks of Samuel D. Felker, a former governor of New Hampshire, who said: "As Daniel Webster was the first man of New Hampshire, so Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, was the first among the women of the Granite State. She has left the impress of her work not only of New England, but on the entire world, and we are proud of her." The late Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, who was personally acquainted with Mrs. Eddy, said: "Mrs. Eddy should have the respect, admiration, and love of the whole nation, for she is its greatest woman; the one person, regardless of sex, living today who has done the greatest good for her fellow creatures."

The Hon. Edwin G. Eastman, former attorney-general of New Hampshire, speaking of Mrs. Eddy as late as last year, stated: "I consider her the most remarkable woman, perhaps, that this country or any other country has produced." In fact, at one time or another during the past quarter of a century the press throughout the world, and especially in the United States, has taken many occasions to call attention to the great work for humanity which has been accomplished by Mrs. Eddy. One does not have to believe as she did in religious matters to be broad enough and charitable enough to perceive and acknowledge with gratitude the good she has done for all mankind.
