I consider it not only a pleasure but an honor to testify in the columns of the Sentinel. One who has studied the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, knows of the spiritual awakening which comes to human consciousness with this study, also of that perfect peace "which passeth all understanding." This truth indeed brings rest, happiness, and hope; it enables us to enjoy our earthly surroundings, and this before was to me inconceivable.

Like a great many others who come into Christian Science, I was healed after material means had failed. My case was peculiar; first the physicians called it locomotor ataxia, then infantile paralysis. In December, 1905, I was taken with a severe illness and was confined to bed for about five weeks. After I was able to be outdoors, instead of growing stronger I became very weak. Though medicine was taken, I did not recover, but instead, on the twenty-sixth of February, 1906, there was a complete loss of the use of my legs. About a week after that my arms refused to respond. I could eat every meal that was given me, but could not move. I was more helpless than a little baby, and even had to be fed.

For fourteen months I remained in an invalid chair, during four months of that time under osteopathic and electrical treatment. One day, after a consultation with another physician, my doctor said the case was peculiar and he could not tell when I would recover. As I was thinking this over afterward, the thought came to me to try Christian Science. I knew nothing of its teachings, but was glad to try anything that might make me well, as medicine had failed and my recovery seemed far distant. We accordingly called in a Christian Science practitioner, who was surely led to us by infinite Love. As she explained the Bible to me in the light of Christian Science, my consciousness responded to this teaching, and from that moment I loved to read Science and Health, because it is filled with healing thoughts for those who will seek them in the correct way. My healing was slow, but after treatment had been given me for about three weeks I knew it would be complete, and it was. For the last eight years I have been a picture of health, and am as active as are other men in daily life. The past seems like a dream.
