Eight years ago, after having had hemorrhages of the lungs, I came to California. I was said to be suffering also from an internal abscess, impaired heart action, and my kneecaps had slipped out of place. I used opiates, and elastic caps were worn on both knees. An eminent physician in Boston had told me that my life hung by a thread. In addition to the physical and mental afflictions which had caused me much suffering for years, I was attacked with chills and fever within less than a year after coming to this state. My husband took me to the mountains, but for a year I was never able to walk a hundred yards at any one time. Various remedies were tried, but my condition remained most precarious until we began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, nearly six years ago.

Most of what we read seemed beyond our comprehension, but the reading alone brought relief. The elastic knee-caps were discarded, the lungs became sound, the internal abscess was healed, the heart no longer troubled me, and I ceased to use any material remedies. Any one who has ever turned to Christian Science for physical relief will remember how reluctantly he parted with the medicine he had leaned on, even though it was to no purpose, for so many years.

My life is just as much improved spiritually as it has been physically, and the Bible and Science and Health are my daily source of strength. I am very grateful to the dear friend in the East who called my attention to Christian Science, and to Mrs. Eddy who discovered it and gave it to the world, but above all thankful to God, the giver of all good.
