I am happy to express my gratitude for the spiritual and physical help our family have found in Christian Science. While playing on the high school foot-ball team, in November, 1912, my son's foot was injured and became badly swollen and inflamed. As his father was very fearful and thought we should have a physician to diagnose the case, we did so. The doctor said that poisoning had set in, and that not only was the foot infected but the leg also, up to the groin. He had been our family physician before we came into Science, and as he regarded the case so seriously we left it in his care for three weeks, but during that time my son constantly grew worse. The pain and swelling increased and three deep abscesses formed in the heel, so that we all, including the doctor, became very anxious.

At this point my son asked for Christian Science treatment, and we immediately called in a practitioner, who treated him that day. The next morning, while we were eating breakfast, he came running down-stairs and said he was healed. He put on his shoes and kept them on all day, though he had not been able to stand on his foot for three weeks. The next day he went down town, and has never complained of the foot since. We can never express our gratitude for having seen such a wonderful demonstration of the power of Truth.

On March 29, 1913, my little girl, seven years old, was playing at a neighbor's and while swinging very high, slipped out of the seat and was dragged along a rough floor. A splinter five inches long was forced through the fleshy part of her thigh. As she has always attended the Christian Science Sunday school and relied entirely on Christian Science, she cried out constantly, "God is Love, God is Love," and told her little friend's mother to pull the splinter out. The mother tried to do so but could not, as it had pierced the thing and broken off, leaving about three inches of it buried in the flesh, with both ends projecting about an inch outside. They sent for me, but before going I called for a Christian Science practitioner, who accompanied me, and together we took my little girl home.
