Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for what...
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, but I know that each word spoken for Truth's sake will help some one still in bondage to sickness or sin. I have been freed from gall-stones, severe headaches, stomach disorder, and numerous other ailments, but these healings seem small when compared with the understanding, gained through the study of Christian Science, of how to overcome sick thoughts, which are the cause of all discord.
Whenever error of any sort manifests itself now, I am so grateful to have the remedy right at hand, God's everpresence, for it never fails when we let ourselves get close to God in silent communion. Christian Science has changed my thoughts toward my fellow men, overcoming likes and dislikes, and I now see only God's idea. I have the understanding to think twice before I speak once, and try to put it into practice, for this enables me to consider my brother's feelings as well as my own. Christian Science has taught me that when conditions do not yield readily I should try to put self out of consciousness and trust God to show me how to work out the problem.
When I realize my true relation to God every vestige of evil or error disappears. For every problem that has presented itself to me I am grateful, as each one has been a stepping-stone to a higher understanding, a larger proof of God's omnipotence. When there is a cross to bear, I just stop and think that it is nothing to compare with what Jesus bore for me. By being patient, humble, considerate, selfsacrificing, and true to the teaching of Christian Science, I will try to be numbered among the laborers in the Master's vineyard. —Helen Veneman, Veneman, Chicago, Ill.
