I am very glad to be able to tell my fellow men of the many benefits which I have received through Christian Science. A stomach trouble of twelve or more years' standing caused me great distress, the attacks at times assuming a very serious character, so that medical help had to be secured. On one occasion the severity of the attack necessitated the joint attendance of two physicians, who both expressed their concern with regard to my life. For years nothing had seemed to do me any good, and I suffered pain, despite my strict observance of all kinds of diet. My mode of living was extremely simple, and I had given up many things which formerly gave me enjoyment, but finally bilious complaint was added.
It was then that one of my sons, who was living in America and had turned to Christian Science, called my attention to this subject. I felt some hesitancy at first, as I believed that at my age it would be impossible ever to recover full health; but I soon changed my opinion after I began reading Der Herold der Christian Science and its many testimonies in which divine or spiritual healing had been wrought. Toward the end of May, 1914, together with my wife, who was also very much in need of help, I applied to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and assistance was given in such an understanding way that from the first I gained full confidence in the efficacy of spiritual means as the cure of disease. From that time on I ate my meals without discriminating, having ceased to believe in any possible ill effect as having been caused by food.
A few weeks later my healing was complete. Many inharmonious conditions under which my family and I were laboring, such as anxiety, fear, worry, and discontent, were destroyed by the workings of this wonderful Science. I am profoundly grateful to the creator for the infinite love which He bestows upon us, and I know that I owe Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, a debt of gratitude for having again shown mankind the straight way which leadeth unto God, Truth divine.
