Among the Churches
Current Notes
Omaha, Neb.—Third Church of Christ, Scientist, will be organized in the northern part of the city some time soon, according to a unanimous decision made by the members of the denomination at a meeting of First Church of Christ, Scientist. Although no definite site has as yet been selected, it was decided that the new church should be located north of Lake Street. About one hundred members now attending First or Second Church will go over to the new church, and this will relieve the crowded conditions which prevail at present in the two older churches.—Omaha Bee.
Olympia, Wash.—In November, 1912, a few Christian Scientists here who were members of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass., assembled at a private residence and organized the Christian Science Society. Meetings were held in a small cottage on Adams Street, near Ninth, until the attendance became too large for the building. Since then they have been held in the Woman's Club House, Tenth and Washington Streets. The society has grown so that it is planning the erection of a church edifice in the near future.—Olympian.
Cambridge, Mass.—First Church of Christ, Scientist, which now holds its services in Brattle Hall, has recently paid in full the mortgage on the property at 1582 Massachusetts Avenue, purchased some time ago as a building site at a cost of twenty-seven thousand dollars. Furthermore, owing to a kindly bequest and the generous giving of the church, it has something over ten thousand dollars on hand in its building fund toward the erection of an edifice.
