I am indeed thankful for the privilege of expressing my gratitude to God for sending His beloved Son, Christ Jesus, to show us that we too are His children. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for what she has given to the world through her clear understanding of the Christ.
I took up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" in connection with the Bible, and had not been reading long before I began to see that the mental healing meant much more to me than the healing of so-called aches and pains. Prior to reading Science and Health I sometimes had headaches and other slight ailments, but I did not think much about them, although they would unfit me for business. After reading this book for a short time, I realized that they had gone to their native nothingness—that they were no part of me. Then I began to put into practice that which I gained daily, and found, as our Leader has told us, that it was the way to gain more.
Like most if not all who take up this wonderful study, my great desire was to help others to realize their at-one-ment with God. Then the tempter came, trying to tell me that I did not have time to read enough to get the necessary understanding. Just before retiring, after a very busy day, I decided to read a little in Science and Health, and on opening it I read (p. 368), "When we come to have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, more faith in Spirit than in matter, more faith in living than in dying, more faith in God than in man, then no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error," which comforted and encouraged me.
