I have received so many benefits from Christian Science...
I have received so many benefits from Christian Science that I can never cease to be grateful for the peace and joy that have come into my life. From childhood I had been subject to stomach and bowel trouble, and finally became almost helpless. A physician who diagnosed my case as appendicitis treated me for a long time, but there was no permanent benefit. Then I went to other doctors and an operation was advised. I was refused life insurance because the examining physician said that I was afflicted with chronic catarrhal appendicitis, and unless an operation were performed there was little to hope for. Another physician was consulted, and he said that an operation would be useless, as the trouble could not be reached in that way. I became very despondent at the gloomy outlook. Everything I ate disagreed with me, and because of weakness I was compelled to give up my position.
Although I knew of Christian Science, I did not think it could heal me; but having taken all the medicine that was given and having tried everything in a material way without any more than temporary benefit, I determined to try Christian Science, thinking it might relieve the worry anyway. A practitioner told me a little about this teaching and gave me a treatment. The relief was instantaneous. The pains and distress in the stomach and bowels were forgotten within half an hour after I left the practitioner, and a bowel trouble that had been very stubborn vanished in a few hours. This occurred over five years ago and none of the ailments have ever returned.
After taking up the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, my gain was rapid. In about a week I was able to lay aside glasses that had been worn for several years, and my eyesight is better now than it ever was. I have been eating whatever I wished without fear of disastrous results, and am strong and well, even capable of great exertion. My physical appearance changed so rapidly that I had to be introduced to some former acquaintances.
