Christian Science Practical
That Christian Science is a practical religion for men in business and one which they can demonstrate and prove, has been fully tested recently by the writer. On page 128 of Science and Health. Mrs. Eddy says: "A knowledge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities and possibilities of man. It extends the atmosphere of thought, giving mortals access to broader and higher realms. It raises the thinker into his native air of insight and perspicacity."
I am engaged in a business which deals exclusively in perishable goods, namely flowers, which must be handled quickly. On holidays, such as Christmas, New Year's day, and Easter, there is a great demand for them, and it has always been a problem to know just how much stock to purchase. As a rule the advance orders are small, not even five per cent of the business done. After five years of earnest study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, in connection with the Bible, and of effort to apply its teachings at all times, I was able to make what I consider a clear demonstration in this way.
About a week before Easter, 1915, I threw the entire burden upon the Lord, and studied the definition of the word "angels" on page 581 of Science and Health, "God's thoughts passing to man," also the article entitled "Angels" on page 306 of "Miscellaneous Writings," in the course of which Mrs. Eddy says, "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." Holding fast to this thought all the week, I sought to realize that under the government of divine Mind I could not buy too much or too little, since divine intelligence can make no mistake. I reasoned that because there is only one Mind or intelligence, what I had to do was to rely upon this intelligence, and so be instructed how much to buy.
