[Written for the Sentinel]

"Life's burdens light"

"Each man shall bear his burden." This true wordBrought peace and joy one stressful eventideAfter a day of toil. I plainly heardPaul's message, and the flood-gates opened wideTo let in gratitude. "He shall rejoiceWithin God's word alone." Again the voiceOf Truth brought consolation. Truly, LoveWas leading me in ways I knew not of.

"Each man shall bear his burden." Ah, the peaceOf trusting God alone in troublous hour,Of talking, walking, praying,—taking theseSteps heavenward with Him whose only powerIs good. Each man his burden bearing, hereAnd now, with gentle fortitude and cheer,—Each man rejoicing in God's word aloneShall bear his burden till he reach Love's throne.
