I write this testimony to express my deep gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. For eight years I had suffered from internal pains. One day I picked up a copy of the Journal; on it was written a verse from Deuteronomy: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them." I felt as if I had been lifted up. I opened the periodical, and after reading some testimonies of healing said that if Christian Science could heal these people, it would heal me.

At the first opportunity I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and started to read it carefully. In less than a week all my pains had disappeared. It seemed too good to be true, but I have since found out that nothing is too good to be true. The spiritual uplift was far greater than the healing. Rheumatism has also been overcome. I had the most severe pains in my back, and could hardly move. Four treatments were given me by a practitioner and I have had no return of the trouble. That was several years ago. I have also experienced instantaneous healing of an ingrowing toe-nail from which I had suffered for two years.

Before coming to Christian Science I was always taking medicine, but have not taken a drop since beginning the study of this Science. I have gained a better understanding of the Bible, and find the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon a great help. I am thankful to God for all the good that I have received and am daily and hourly receiving; and know that, as we are told in Science and Health (p. 494), "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I am very grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for bringing us this beautiful truth that is helping so many.
