Among the Churches

Current Notes

Harrisburg, Pa. — Plans for a Christian Science church building to be erected in the near future at Front and Woodbine streets were approved last night [July 28] by the congregation of First Church of Christ, Scientist, which meets in the Board of Trade Hall. No date for beginning the work was set, and only tentative plans were announced. The plot for the new building has been in possession of the church for several years, and the erection of the building has been deferred only on account of insufficient funds.

The Christian Science church in Harrisburg has about one hundred members, and there are many more attendants at the services who are not enrolled as active members. The present rented quarters in the Board of Trade Hall are often crowded to capacity, and the need of a permanent church building has been felt for several years. — The Patriot.

Chicago, Ill. — Fourteenth Church of Christ, Scientist, has purchased for its church building site the lot at the southwest corner of Paulina street and Sunnyside avenue, fronting 142 feet on Paulina street and 165 feet on Sunnyside avenue, at a price of nineteen thousand dollars. The buildings, which were not included, are to be removed by the owner. Substantial payments have been made and the deed has been secured. The size, location, and surroundings make this one of the finest lots in Ravenswood.
