We have been interested in Christian Science for over nine...
We have been interested in Christian Science for over nine years, and have proved its efficacy to heal in many instances. Numerous physical ills have been overcome in our family of five by applying the rules of Christian Science. Cases such as a fractured elbow, the toe of one foot nearly cut off, a fall from a tree, appendicitis, measles, a severe scald, a sprained ankle, and other lesser ills, have come up. In most instances we have called on a Christian Science practitioner in a neighboring town, with the result that relief was soon obtained and complete healing quickly followed. We have applied our knowledge of God as the only source of supply, as taught in Mrs. Eddy's incomparable book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and have found our financial condition invariably bettered by a radical reliance upon God, who is Love, — "the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
Better and dearer than the physical healing, however, is the understanding Christian Science gives, namely, that by a persistent endeavor to live according to its rules, and to see man in God's image perfect and sinless, we can grow each day better and purer, until finally we reach the goal for which all are striving. This of course takes time and sometimes we stumble and fall, but if we always remember that "underneath are the everlasting arms," we shall not be utterly cast down, and so can rise cheerfully, take up the cross, and turn more eagerly and with greater confidence than before to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus the Wayshower.
Christian Science confirms the Scripture teaching that "love is the fulfilling of the law;" and that there is no condition, however inharmonious it may seem, that is not bettered by persistently holding to love instead of hate, to good instead of evil, as the only power. We must remember that Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me;" also that our Father-Mother God is continually saying, "I have loved thee with an everlasting love : therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." If we apply these sayings in our intercourse with all we meet, grown-ups and little children, we shall find that the problems which seemed so big to us, the conditions which seemed so inharmonious, will melt away as error must always do before the light of Love.
