I am indeed grateful for all that Christian Science has...
I am indeed grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine. The doctors said I had liver and stomach disorder. I had Christian Science treatment, under which I sometimes seemed to improve, but then again to get worse. My condition was distressing to my friends and discouraging to myself. Then the time came when my husband was advised to call a doctor, to meet the requirements of the law, as it was thought I would pass on. The doctor was therefore called, but he gave no encouragement. I knew in my heart that materia medica could do no good.
At this time, when I was almost hopeless, a practitioner in an adjoining town undertook the case. The first treatment destroyed much fear, and her happy face and cheerful manner, together with her positive assurance that God loved me and would heal me, lifted my thought and I began to gain. She explained to me man's relation to infinite Mind, and the all powerful, ever operative law of Love. My fears and doubts vanished, and through her loving, faithful work I began to grasp the truth as I never had before. Trouble and worry were destroyed in our home. My husband began to read Christian Science and to have confidence in it. My healing was a little slow, but it was sure, and finally complete. Then about a year later I was stricken down with severe pain, so that I was not able to move. This attack, however, was not at all like the ailments of which I had been healed. I called the same practitioner, and she remained with me all night. The trouble disappeared, and God was again proved to be a present help in my hour of need. Those who saw me that day were surprised to find me up and free the next day.
I am thankful to God, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her teaching and the understanding I have gained which enables me to watch my thinking and not allow false claims to get my attention and manifest inharmony. My prayer is that I may be faithful in the application of the word of God and the power of Truth in my every-day life, overcoming self and reflecting Love. I read the Lesson-Sermon daily, and I am thankful for our periodicals and for Mrs. Eddy's writings.
