It is with a heart full of gratitude that I try to tell of some of the things which Christian Science has done for me. Fourteen years ago I was healed of acute lung trouble through Christian Science, and at the same time regained the use of my right arm. Then in 1910, when I was visiting my daughter at Colville, Wash., I was taken with heart trouble, also had something the matter with my knee—I could not walk and I suffered much. I thought my condition was due to rheumatism; but when the knee was examined by a doctor, he said it was caused by an injury and a misplacement. He did not think there could be anything done. I then called for help from a Christian Science practitioner, who worked lovingly and faithfully for me. My healing was a little slow, but I thank God that during the experience I learned more and more of the truth by which I was indeed made free. My health has been very good since that time.
The physical healing was a blessing, but not to be compared with the spiritual uplift. I have learned to help myself, and this has meant much to me, for I am sometimes far away from any Science people for months; but I find God is "a very present help in trouble." I am now in my seventy-eighth year, and people who do not understand Christian Science, marvel that I am so well and active. I have indeed much for which to be grateful. I thank God I can read and understand that He is my life, thanks to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, through whom the way has been shown. I am grateful for all our literature, and for the Lesson-Sermons which we have the privilege of studying each day. I pray that I may always be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.
