[Written for the Sentinel]

Love's Guidance

Naught that the erring senses say
Can e'er our trusting hearts dismay;
Nor should a doubt or fear obscure
This thought: In Love we dwell secure.

Nay, not apart in loneliness;
Love's presence doth each moment bless,
And when there falls the seeming night,
With precious hope the heart is light.

With Love, our Father-Mother God,
Need we in fear or sorrow plod?
How kindly He each child beholds!
What gracious bliss each hour unfolds!

Could we a better guidance take
Than Love's? He never doth forsake.
Yea, when the path seemed dark and lone,
Love's guiding hand the way hath shown.
