Among the Churches

Columbia City, Ind.—A deal was consummated New Year's day by which the Christian Science Society of this city became the owner of property built and occupied as a residence for many years by the late A. Y. Hooper and family, corner Chauncey and Jefferson streets. This is one of the most desirable corners in the city. The society will remodel and improve the property. The lot is one hundred and fifty feet in length and has a frontage of eighty feet on Chauncey street.—Commercial-Mail.

Minneapolis, Minn.—First Church of Christ, Scientist, has for some time past occupied a modest brick structure on Fifteenth street, between Portland and Park avenues, which has the distinction of being the first church edifice built by Christian Scientists in this state. This organization is now building a beautiful classical church edifice on Nicollet avenue and Twenty-fourth street. Work has progressed so for that it is now possible to occupy the Sunday school rooms, and the regular church services will be held there hereafter, beginning today [Dec. 27, 1914].—The Minneapolis Sunday Tribune.

Gardiner, Maine.—A fine church edifice belongs to First Church of Christ, Scientist. It is situated on Lincoln avenue, close by the city park, on land given to the church in 1889, seven years after Christian Science was first introduced into Gardiner. It was not until ten years ago that work was begun on the foundation of the new church, although a reading-room had been established in 1900. The first service was held in the new building in 1905.
