When a man who is practising medicine says, "I use Christian Science in my work," he professes to practise two systems which cannot be combined, or else he uses suggestion. This comment is made with reference to an article by a medical doctor in a recent number. Christian Scientists sometimes employ physicians. In some states they are required to do so in certain cases, and they may do so voluntarily as a concession to the rights or the fears of other people. But if a Christian Scientist had occasion to employ a doctor, he would surely want one who was consistently practising medicine. He would have no use for a combination offer of both medicine and Christian Science, nor for any kind of mental manipulation.
