It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write this testimony, in the hope that some one who is seeking the truth will be benefited. Seven years ago I was about to go to the hospital for the fifth operation upon my neck for diseased glands, which the doctors diagnosed as tuberculosis of the neck. The first time I was operated on the doctor assured me that the trouble would not return, but I went back to the hospital four times after that on account of its recurrence, and there was seemingly no cure.
At the time I was persuaded to take up Christian Science there was an enlarged gland on the back of my neck the size of a hen's egg, from which there had been a discharge for three months or more. When the physician examined me preparatory to operating, he said I had waited too long, that the tissues were broken down and might never heal, but if they did it would be only after months at the best. Though this greatly discouraged me, it took much persuasion on the part of a dear relative to get me even to consider having Christian Science treatment. After finally consenting to postpone the operation for a week to see if there was any improvement, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for my first treatment, and only those who have been uplifted by this truth can know the joy and peace that were mine. It was like being pulled up out of the mud and made clean, for I was shown the way to think rightly. In less than three weeks my neck had entirely healed, and a short time afterward all swelling disappeared.
I am very grateful for this healing, but more so for the spiritual uplift of this saving truth, which gives a religion that can be utilized every day, no matter where we are or what we are doing.—Ethel K. Brillhart, Chicago, Ill.
