On June 11, 1913, I was riding a bicycle on the way to work, when at the intersection of two streets a motor-cycle, ridden by two people and going at a high rate of speed, struck my wheel, throwing me about fifteen feet, where I landed on my head with the motor-cycle and the two people on top of me. When taken up by shopmates who witnessed the accident, I was unconscious. The ambulance was sent for, and by the time it arrived I had regained consciousness but did not seem to know what I was doing. I was so sore all over that I could not bear to have anything touch me, and had a deep cut over the left eye. When I reached home a Christian Science practitioner was sent for immediately. The pain became so sever that I could hardly stay on the bed, but after about fifteen minutes' treatment I was resting quietly. The next day the papers, giving an account of the accident, said I probably would not live, but by the understanding of the truth gained through the study of Christian Science, and the practitioner's faithful work, I was able to be up the second day, and the third day went downtown. The cut healed very quickly and left searcely a trace to show where it had been.

This is only one of many opportunities that both my wife and I have had, since taking up Christian Science about three and a half years ago, to test the truth of the ever-presence and all-power of God. We have both had the privilege of class teaching, for which we are grateful, and our desire is that our lives may daily prove the sincerity of our thankfulness to God, and our gratitude to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this wonderful truth.
