It is with a thankful heart that I write this testimony, in the hope that it may reach some one as a ray of sunshine, which puts forth its beam into a seemingly dismal room and makes one realize that there is indeed a world of light. For six years I had been miserable in both mind and body. Under one doctor's advice I had the appendix removed, while under another there was a more serious operation. One doctor would decide this and another that to be the cause of my nervousness and ill health. My husband finally grew discouraged, for everything seemed wrong and I was filled with fear. At last he decided to sell out his business, and we came, with our two children, to California. I was so weak after we arrived that I often had fainting spells and night sweats. Although we had two doctors, I thought I was going to die, and my husband called in a neighbor, who asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science. As all else had failed, I had little hope, but we called a practitioner. I remember how dismal the day was, indoors and out. It was the rainy season in California, and we were having the heaviest rain for years, but the practitioner came with such a cheerful face. She said very little, but gave me a treatment. Her mere presence seemed to soothe, and I fell asleep.

I awoke in the morning wonderfully better, and under her care grew stronger, but I did not come to realize my natural gift of health from God until a month later, when I was taken very sick again. The practitioner came during the night, treated me, and said I would be all right in the morning, and I was, for I got up and went out of doors. About noon I came in and examined my throat, using a hand mirror, and when I saw the evidence, fear came over me so strongly that I fell on the floor in a faint. When I came to, I telephoned to the practitioner and asked if I had not better see a doctor. She said certainly, if I felt that way, but that she would be obliged to give up the case. I stood, figuratively speaking, at the fork of the road, not knowing which way to go. I then took up Science and Health and began to read. The way was decided, and how plain it all was,—"Thou shalt have no other gods before me," "I am the way, the truth, and the life." By the help of Christian Science and through the goodness of God I was healed, and today the peace that "passeth all understanding," for which I had tried in vain through material sources, blesses our home.

I am indeed thankful to our heavenly Father, divine Love, for my healing, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for so lovingly and obediently doing His will that we might receive this blessed truth.—Grace M. Campbell, Hermosa Beach, Cal.
