From my appearance today, no one would consider that I...

From my appearance today, no one would consider that I had once been sickly and delicate. For several years material remedies were constantly used, both internally and externally, but my condition seemed no better. My mother had a beautiful healing in Christian Science, and therefore I thought that if it could cure in one case, it would in another; and it did, for from that day to this I have been robust and well. At first there was only blind belief in this power of good, but I determined to gain in understanding and know the workings of Truth. After conscientious study it became clear that God cares for us, and therefore we may trust in Him always. With this new confidence came the overcoming of fears that held me in bondage. I was afraid of insects, afraid of robbers, afraid of disease, and the very fear seemed to attract the dreaded objects. Only those who have been thus liberated from fear can understand my deep sense of gratitude.

Best of all, however, is the knowledge that we can apply this Principle to work out our every problem, and that we finally come to know that peace "which passeth all understanding." I deem it a privilege to be living in this day and age, when through the prayerful efforts of a good woman the works of the greatest teacher the world has known have been brought to light, and made the basis for a practical Christianity. I am truly thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy.—Myrtle Birnbaum, Los Angeles, Cal.
