It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science. Four and a half years ago I became acquainted with its teachings, and was soon convinced that I had found the one thing needful. Until then I had lacked the proper concept of God, and man created in His image and likeness. My life having been largely an experience of suffering, I was of the opinion that this was in conformity with God's will. Christian Science taught me differently, and an opportunity was afforded me to test its truth five weeks later, in the case of severe toothache. After five months I was able to lay aside spectacles which I had used for twenty-seven years, and the trouble has been almost completely overcome.

I suffered with an affection of the throat for about the same length of time. It would manifest itself every year at different times, and often interfere with my activities. The physicians held various opinions regarding the trouble, although the accompanying symptoms were always the same. Then I was advised to have the tonsils removed. Seventeen years ago I submitted to a minor but premature operation, the result of which was that the trouble broke out externally on the throat. The physician under whose care I was, stated that there was a tubercular condition, and his verdict made me feel sick of life, for this was a disease which I greatly feared. This state of mind lasted until another physician diagnosed the case as scrofula, and thus I experienced the suffering caused by a mistaken diagnosis. Although the wound healed, the throat trouble appeared again internally the following year, and my application to an insurance company was refused on account of the first verdict.

Last summer, during a stay in my former home, I was led to experience the power of Truth with regard to the above case. After having been free from the trouble for several years, I had a return of it with all the accompanying symptoms. Fear, and the thought of my former suffering, weakened my attempts to work in Christian Science in my own behalf. I therefore wrote to my relatives, and they applied for treatment for me, which was taken up absently. The next day there was an improvement, and on the following morning I was perfectly free and able to take a short trip.
