It was in 1906 that I first heard of Christian Science healing
It was in 1906 that I first heard of Christian Science healing. I had never been in contact with Scientists, and none of the literature had ever come my way. Several years before this I had been operated on for internal disorders, and was left in a nervous condition which the medical authorities and physicians said was incurable. No similar case had ever been known to be healed. This condition undermined my whole system, so that for seven years I struggled to keep my head above the waves. My brother then advised me to try Christian Science, and I did so. With the first week's treatment I was healed of piles, stomach disorder of twenty years' standing, and bowel trouble. I had so many minor ailments that I thought I would ask to have the twigs broken off and then I would get at the root, so for two years I did not ask help for the nervous trouble; but when I did, I was healed in three week's treatment.
It was such a joy to know that I was free, that I fully realized the feeling of the young man when he said, after Jesus had healed him, "Whereas I was blind, now I see." For six years divind Love has been my only physician. Many blessings have come to me through this great truth, and it gives me much pleasure to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the spiritual uplift I have received through its teachings. I have had and have seen so many demonstrations of the power of Truth to overcome error, in the way of toothache, earache, fever, mumps, measles, and accidents, that I feel this is truly the Christ-healing. Some one has said that "the most valuable gift of a man or woman to the world is not money or books, but a noble life," and I think if one will live up to the standard of Christian Science, he will reach the mark. I am thankful that during my lifetime there has been a way shown to humanity by whicy all may receive the healing truth.
