A feeling of deep gratitude for the many blessings received...
A feeling of deep gratitude for the many blessings received is the motive underlying this tribute to Christian Science. In 1908 I first heard of this teaching through a friend. After I had told her all about my various ailments, she said to me, "Why do you not try Christian Science, which has cured so many people?" She told me that she had been healed of severe headaches, and assured me that I too would be helped. Although it all seemed quite new to me, I was ready to give it a trial, and a practitioner was asked to help me. She first treated me for stomach trouble, and the next day I was able to eat a certain kind of food which I had been obliged to avoid for twenty-five years on account of the suffering it caused me. Oh, how happy I was! Sleep returned, and a rupture was healed in three weeks' time.
In January, for three years in succession, I had had attacks of illness which kept me in bed from two to three weeks, but for the past six years I have been entirely free from them. Then, too, my eyesight has greatly improved, and I have been able to read a great deal without glasses. This was quite impossible formerly. I enjoyed excellent health for several years, and then, in June, 1913, I had an attack of kidney and liver complaint; but through her understanding of God, the practitioner to whom I applied for help soon effected a cure. Many of my acquaintances passed on with this disease during the six months of my illness, and this makes me feel all the more grateful for the light, and for the deliverance which Truth and Love has brought me. Did not the Master say, "Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die"? I know that God is my life, and that there is no death. I am most deeply grateful for Mrs. Eddy's glorious teachings.
