It is with a grateful heart that I tell of the blessings which I and my family have received through Christian Science. Several different doctors treated me for stomach and heart trouble, also a very severe bowel disorder. I suffered from headaches constantly; in fact, I was never free from pain. In June, 1910, I had a very painful operation for female trouble, and was helped somewhat, but grew worse after a few months. I prayed to God continually to lead me into some way whereby I could regain my health. As I was on the train going back to the doctor who had operated on me, I met a lady who said only a few words, but what she said was like the "still small voice" of Truth: "If your doctor cannot help you, I wish you would try Christian Science." Those words rang in my ears continually until I did try it. The doctor's treatment did me no good and another operation stared me in the face, but I preferred death rather than that.
I took up Christian Science treatment in April, 1911, and experienced a glorious awakening right at the beginning. My physical healing was slow, but it has been permanent. I still have many errors to be overcome, but I know they will be destroyed as I let God reign in my thought and actions. I find an understanding of this truth both a preventive and a curative in my family of four small children. The Bible tells us, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." I have found Christian Science to be the greatest blessing that ever came into my life, and I am going to hold on to it. I am deeply thankful to God, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this demonstrable truth that sets us free.
