I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me. It is now between five and six years since I was healed of very severe stomach and bowel trouble. I had been suffering for several years and trying all kinds of medicines and doctors, with only occasional relief, until I became so low I could hardly leave my bed, and for weeks was unable to eat solid food. My wife had been interested in Christian Science for some time, and had derived much benefit from the study of the Bible with Science and Health; so when I seemed to have tried everything material, I turned to God for help. When I first asked for Christian Science treatment, I was unable to leave my bed, therefore I had absent treatment; but in a short time I was able to be about, and after five weeks' treatment began to eat ordinary food. I was then greatly reduced in weight, but I kept on gaining, and have been in perfect health for several years. I now weigh more than the average man.
I have also been healed of acute lung trouble. One day, a year ago last winter, I was compelled to come home from my work, and it was with difficulty that I reached home, as I could scarcely breathe and seemed to be getting worse all the time. My wife tried to help me by declaring the truth, but fear seemed to hold her, so she called a Christian Science practitioner, who came and gave me a treatment. I became much better at once, and was able to return to my work the next morning. I was completely healed in that one treatment and have never had another attack, although when the doctors learned that it was my second attack, they said I would have a return of the disease again this year; but knowing that God's cures are permanent, we had no fear.
I cannot be thankful enough for what I have gained by knowing that God is always ready to give if we only ask Him aright.—A. E. Earl, Willowbrook, Cal.
