I wish to express my gratitude for the peace and happiness...

I wish to express my gratitude for the peace and happiness which have come to me through the explanation of life as taught in Christian Science, for the knowledge that evil is no part of real being, and that there is an ever-operative law by which evil of every nature can be completely overcome. Christian Science has given me an understanding of the Bible which formerly I could not gain, and has restored me to health when I had no prospect of ever being well.

When about two years of age I had a serious illness, which left me very delicate and never free from pain. I was constantly under the care of doctors, and for a year or two before hearing of Christian Science I had been unable to sleep naturally. Among other things I suffered from extreme exhaustion, nervousness, and a very great sense of depression. A great deal of my life I spent in bed or lying down to rest. At the time I first heard of Christian Science I was using regularly various drugs which I believed I could not live without, but after reading a few chapters of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I saw clearly that material remedies had no power to heal, since God is the only power; so I gave them up entirely, and soon found that practically every physical discord had disappeared. Since then I have enjoyed splendid health, and have not spent one hour in bed through illness. Any physical discord which has become manifest has been very quickly healed in Christian Science.

Fortunately I heard of this teaching just in time to prevent the amputation of the toes of my left foot. It had been decided that this would be necessary, owing to the great pain which they occasioned, and which toward the last the doctors could not even relieve. Above all, I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us that God is the only Mind, that He directs and governs all in perfect harmony.
