I send this testimony to tell what God, through Christian Science, has done for me. I was a physical and mental wreck when my son advised me to try Christian Science. I had been under medical treatment for a year, had tried different medicines, was a month at a sanitarium taking baths, electricity, etc., but with no benefit. The doctor said I was suffering from nervous breakdown, an abnormal growth, bowel disorder, and stomach trouble, for which I was on a diet. I was unable to sleep without taking a drug, and was full of fear and mental gloom. My husband had to give up work for eight months to care for me, as I was afraid to be alone.

I was a Bible student and had taught in a Sunday school, but I was unable to apply the teachings of the Scriptures for my comfort. During my talk with a Christian Science practitioner I learned that "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind;" that it was only error trying to bind me; that instead of submitting I should heed Paul's admonition to "stand fast ... in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." This verse was my first ray of light in the darkness, and I clung to it.

A few weeks after Christian Science treatment was taken up for me, Truth began to expel the growth. I could eat and sleep, action became normal, and in less than three months I was doing my work, and have done it ever since. That was in the fall of 1910. I have also been healed of catarrh of forty years' standing; in fact, I have become a new woman in every way.
