send my testimony with an earnest prayer that it may...
I send my testimony with an earnest prayer that it may bring a bright hope to "such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction." I was such a one, having suffered many years with severe stomach trouble, for which I had tried the different schools of medicine, trouble, sanitariums and springs. While at times I was benefited by these methods, and the doctors were as kind to me as friends, yet I was never healed; always there was a relapse and I would be down in the depths again. I had to diet rigidly, and at one time took nothing but milk for five months. Christian Science was recommended to me, but I thought I was too sick to risk trying this treatment, and I turned to it only when I knew of nothing else to do. I was completely healed of the disease in three weeks. I believe I was really healed in the first treatment, but I had so much fear of food that it took the rest of the time to remove this fear. I gradually added certain things to my meals, till I found that they could not hurt me, and since then I have eaten what I wished.
I was a church-member and Sunday school teacher, and had pondered a good many things in my heart, finding no satisfactory answer until I studied Christian Science. I had always prayed to be directed to the best material means for health; but when through repeated struggles I grew broad enough to cry to God for light from whatever source, so long as it was His will for me, then I was led to Christian Science and was healed. My heart sings praise to God for my deliverance, and thanks to Mrs. Eddy, who was brave enough to teach us the truth.
Mrs. H. W. Montgomery, Skidmore, Mo.
