I have long felt that I must express my gratitude for Christian Science. Seven years ago I was growing deaf, as the result of a diseased condition of the ears. For two years I had one of the best specialists in the city. Then he said he had done all he could do for me, and advised me to try Christian Science; but I was not ready for it. I gradually grew worse, and I could not eat, hear, or sleep, so at last I asked my brother-in-law, who is a Christian Scientist, to treat me. This he did, and that night I slept. In a very short time I was healed, and when I went back to the specialist about six months later and had him examine my ears, he said my healing was a miracle. At the same time I was healed of female trouble, and when my child was born two years later my life was saved.
When the baby was five months old she was poisoned by her food, and because of the father's disbelief in Christian Science a physician was called. He came regularly for nine days and then said he could do nothing more for her, that she might pass away any minute. When my husband came home from his work I told him something would have to be done,—either call another physician or allow Christian Science treatment for the baby. When he consented to have this treatment, how glad I was! I telephoned to a practitioner at six o'clock for help. All night and all the next morning the little one lay in my arms in a very weakened condition, but in the afternoon, about three o'clock, when the practitioner called to give her another treatment, she turned around and began to play. She was healed from that hour. She was also healed of a contagious disease three years later.
For these and many other blessings which have come to me and mine through Christian Science, I am most thankful to God, and also deeply grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Lillian Geary, Chicago, Ill.
