It is with gratitude to God for the blessings daily bestowed...
It is with gratitude to God for the blessings daily bestowed upon me in Christian Science, and for the understanding of the Scriptures and the spiritual quickening which I have gained through the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I give my testimony. I have been healed not only of headaches and stomach trouble, but of so-called organic disease and serious injuries.
In December, 1910, I had occasion to go up in the attic, and having only a plank to walk on I lost my balance and fell. My right limb went through the ceiling up to my thigh. I was so wedged in by the force of the fall that it was impossible for me to move. I was alone at the time, although I knew that God, who is ever present, was with me. I knew also that He would free me from my imprisonment, even as He had freed me from my adversaries before, and I declared so. How long I was hanging in this distressing position I do not know, neither can I tell how I managed to pull myself out, but when I was freed from my predicament my leg felt as though it were dead, for the blood had stopped circulating, and it being a very cold day I was thoroughly chilled. Two or three days after this I found that the kneecap was seriously affected, and a few months later my leg began to get stiff ; then my knee began to swell, with very sharp pains, and it swelled to an enormous size. My friends were alarmed and told me I had better see a surgeon, saying that under certain circumstances Mrs. Eddy gives that advice in her book Science and Health; but I told them my faith was in the one and only power, and that was divine Love.
I then called for a Christian Science practitioner, being unable to treat myself because of the intense pain, and took treatment for about four months. Praise and honor be to God, to Him who healeth all our diseases, and who forgiveth all our iniquities, for behold, after much suffering the kneecap with a creaking sound went back to its place and is now as normal as the other. I can only express my gratitude by striving to know more of the truth of which our Master said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
