Among the Churches

Current Notes

Knoxville, Tenn.—The activity springing from the good work done at the Christian Science booth at the national conservation exposition, which was held in Knoxville, Tenn., through the months of September and October, 1913, is being felt on all sides ; for not only was the literature freely distributed to those desiring it, but on many occasions the word of God was spoken with healing in its wings. During the two months' run of the exposition we gave away 277 Journals, 956 Monitors, 989 Sentinels, 1,356 pamphlets, and 41 Herolds, making a total of 3,619 pieces.—Correspondence.

Braunschweig, Germany.—An edifice has been under construction since the latter part of May, 1913, on a lot of land (Hedwigstr. 1), which is intended to serve as a home for the Christian Science denomination, and the pleasing exterior of which promises to be an ornament to that part of the city where it is situated. The edifice is in the modern Romanesque style, and its auditorium has a seating capacity of seven hundred. An open space will become available in front of the edifice after the old houses surrounding it have been pulled down. After the completion of the preliminary work, the corner-stone was laid last Monday [Oct. 6, 1913], the event being marked by a simple and dignified ceremony.
