I have experienced so many proofs of the power of Truth and Love in my own case and that of others, that for some time I have felt I should send in my testimony. In March, 1906, I was taken down with hemorrhage of the lungs, and by August of the same year had had three recurrences. Upon the advice of our family physician I was taken to a sanitarium for lung affections in Goerbersdorf for four months, to be under treatment and have complete rest; but despite all this I had three more hemorrhages, and these were so severe that I became entirely disheartened. I now began to think of leaving the place, but the physician would not consent to it. He thought it great folly to undertake so long a journey in such a condition; but I could not stay there any longer, for I wanted to die among my relatives.

In this hour of despair I remembered Christian Science, of which my cousin had told me quite a while before. She had also sent me copies of Der Herold der Christian Science, which did not interest me at first; but now the time had come. I wrote to a Scientist in Berlin, asking for help, and the following day, after receiving a letter from the practitioner, I left for Berlin, with God as my friend and protector. I was in a happy frame of mind; I felt content and was without fear, so that everybody was amazed, for they did not know what had happened. After becoming better acquainted with Christian Science and having had two weeks' treatment, I returned home to my dear ones, not to die, but to live, and to find that the teachings of Christ Jesus can be demonstrated in this age.

Gradually, as I have grown in the understanding of Truth, I have been able to overcome all fear and false beliefs as they approached me. I now realize with a heart full of joy and thankfulness to God, and gratitude to our dear Leader who has shown the excellent way, that God is my life ; therefore no error, no disease, can have any power where God is. I had a hard time at first, because I was all alone in this place and my family were opposed to Christian Science; but divine Love gave me strength to overcome everything. I am striving to obey the truth and at the same time destroy all false beliefs, so that I may at last reach the goal and manifest the perfect child of God. I think of the youthful David as an example, and I would be as fearless before every false belief as he was, for he said that God would fight for him.
