I wish to tell of an instantaneous healing which I experienced...
I wish to tell of an instantaneous healing which I experienced a short time ago. I had a sudden attack of acute rheumatism in my right arm and shoulder. I treated myself that evening, declaring the truth and striving to know God's allness. During the night I awoke at intervals, still in great pain and unable to move my arm. I, however, continued to "be still, and know." In the morning the condition was seemingly the same, when my husband said to me, in reference to another problem, "Do you really believe it possible for so and so to happen?" Like a flash the thought came, and I said, "What cannot God do!" The instant I spoke my arm was freed. The pain was gone, and I was able to attend to all my duties as usual, and I have had no return of the ailment.
This experience was very uplifting to me, as error had generally yielded slowly. What Christian Science means to me no words can tell; and though there are still many problems to be worked out, there is the joy, the certainty, that if I am doing my part, keeping the door open to the Christ-thought, then nothing can enter "that defileth, . . . or maketh a lie." Since then I suddenly lost my beloved husband, and in consequence all material means of support; but all sense of death was removed, and at the same time a way was opened up so that my every need has been supplied. The post I am now filling brought me to Bexhill, in England, where I formerly lived.
What our beloved Leader has done in making clear to this age the truth that our Master lived and taught, time will show ; yes, is showing. Our hearts overflow in love and gratitude to her who by her life and work proved that our God is not afar off, and that the healing Christ is with us here and now. Sorrow and sighing do indeed flee away, and their place is taken by joy and thankfulness unspeakable.
