I feel impelled to make an acknowledgment of the many...
I feel impelled to make an acknowledgment of the many blessings I have received from the study of Christian Science. The truth was brought to me a little over six years ago, and I began the study of it, not for the physical healing, but because it was presented to me as a demonstrable Science, through the study of which I could learn what God is and what He does for man, and that I could prove it today, without waiting until after death to find whether it was true or not. In these years I have had many proofs, through the healing of sickness and sin, that God is ever present, and that the right understanding of Him is made manifest in perfect harmony. I have been healed in one treatment of acute illness, the pain and fever all leaving at once, with no return of any of the symptoms; also a severe attack of bowel trouble yielded in one treatment, leaving me perfectly free.
I have been able, through my own understanding of this Science, to overcome all sense of seasickness, from which I had always suffered when on the ocean. My little girl has been helped in many ways, one of which was the healing of whooping-cough. She had the usual symptoms, one at a time, for a little over one week, when she was entirely free. Later she had a similar attack, but it was soon overcome by declaring and realizing the truth.
These are a few of the proofs which I have had of the truth of the teachings of Christian Science. The Bible, which was to me a closed book, is now my daily study, and I am very grateful for the better understanding of it which makes it possible for us to "take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life" (Science and Health, p. 497). Our beloved Leader has also said that "action expresses more gratitude than speech" (p. 3), so I am daily striving to express my gratitude to God, and my thankfulness to Mrs. Eddy and to all the dear ones who have helped me, by living this truth as nearly as I understand it.—Mrs. Esma L. Hust, San Diego, Cal.
