After presenting a long list of trials and afflictions, Paul says: "In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us." In times of doubt and despair, when material thought crowds thick upon us, and the way seems blocked in every direction, one should pause and ask the question mentally: What was Christ's mission? was it not to demonstrate the power of Truth over conditions far worse than these, and has he not promised that the victory of the cross shall be ours also? We know that we shall not be tempted more than we can stand, and through every difficulty, every care, every sorrow, divine Love will show us a way of escape. "He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." Amid seeming turmoil and strife, it is our privilege to express infinite rest,—God's calm restfulness which waits unchanging to be reflected by us.—Zaidee Douglas Adams.
