The Wichita (Kan.) Eagle
A recent issue reports a local minister as saying, "The only effective way to answer Christian Science is to offer the people a Christ able to heal the body in sorrow and sickness." We heartily agree with him upon this point. It is the healing Christ that satisfieth a hungering heart. Christian Science teaches the fulness of God and the Christ as recorded in the Holy Bible, beginning with the first chapter of Genesis and concluding with the last chapter of Revelation. The teachings of Christian Science do not ask the world to worship a new God; its only appeal is that the human misapprehension or wrong belief relating to Him be given up and He be known as omnipotent and omnipresent Life, Truth, and Love. This understanding of God enables mortals to go to Him at all times with the assurance of His willingness and ability to meet their needs, mentally, morally, and physically.
He also says: "One does not have to go off on the vagaries of Christian Science for physical help from the Lord." "Vagaries" can bring help to no one, neither can a blind faith avail much; but a scientific right understanding of God will heal all our afflictions and save us from our destructions. That this right understanding of Him has come to the world through Christian Science is proven by its healing results, and the healing is not solely physical, but with it has come a great moral and spiritual awakening.
At an Episcopal church congress in Cincinnati, one of its speakers in referring to Christian Science healing said, "The church threw away a jewel and a woman picked it up."
