It is with a heart full of gratitude that I wish to tell others how Christian Science has helped me in time of need. My wife had often suffered with headache as a girl, and had to take medicines on account of several ailments, which remedies, however, in time lost their effect. Her attention was then called to Christian Science, and she applied for treatment. Within a short time her health was restored, thus enabling her to perform her work without experiencing any discomfort; moreover, she grew much stronger. At the birth of a son, Christian Science again wrought wonders. Seven months later, when the child was taken with what is known as "rickets," accompanied by cramps, he was healed through Christian Science, and we knew that we owed this healing to its ministration alone.

I myself had often been ailing formerly, and on one occasion was taken with acute lung trouble. Having witnessed the success of Christian Science in many instances, I decided to apply it in my own case. In the position which I hold a medical certificate must be presented in cases of sickness, thus making it necessary for me to go to the physician for an examination. He stated that I had pleurisy, and said the disease would last from three to four weeks, but that I should come to him again in a week. As already mentioned, I then applied for help in Christian Science, with the result that after the first treatment the pain disappeared, and I felt perfectly well on the fourth or fifth day. At the end of a week I went to see the physician, and he told me that the disease had disappeard, as after close examination he was unable to find any trace of it. In order to prevent a relapse, however, he said that I ought to stay at home the rest of the appointed time, and take care of myself. This I did, though it consisted in familiarizing myself with the teachings of Christian Science.

In another instance I suffered from abscesses, one of which appeared on the neck, another on the hand, and the third on the leg. Previous to my knowledge of Christian Science I had been afflicted in the same way, and taking a material view of things, as I did at that time, I experienced much suffering. This time I asked for Christian Science treatment, and after the first treatment the abscess on the leg disappeard entirely, while the one on the neck was drying up; that on the hand became painless and after the second treatment opened without causing any suffering, whereupon it healed up within a short time.
