THE LECTURES

At a lecture on Christian Science delivered by Virgil O. Strickler, he was introduced by the Rev. J. H. Callender, who said in part,—

Some of you may perhaps be surprised to see the pastor of the Baptist church here to introduce a Christian Scientist, but I desire to say that while I am not a Scientist, I am in sympathy with any and every movement that will benefit the race, either physically, mentally, or spiritually. And there are none here this evening but what must admit that they have known of those who have been benefited by Christian Science. I think the audience this evening can be divided into at least three classes: some are believers in the doctrines of Christian Science, some are honest inquirers, and others, perhaps, are prejudiced against its teachings; but, whatever our position, we must admit, in the language of one of old, that
