[Written for the Sentinel.]

GOD-MEASURED

Another year time's loos'ning grasp hath laid
Upon the altar of eternity.
Our gratitude we offer, Lord, to Thee
For gracious blessings, through its days displayed.

The new year dawns, and every precious hour
To loving service shall be consecrate:
We would help all to know and celebrate
Thy healing touch, Thy purifying power.

This is our off'ring, which accept, we pray,
In lieu of sacrifice. In fond desire
To manifest Thy love, we do aspire
To know, and serve, more truly every day.

Unfolding good alone shall reckoned be
(Time's measurement forevermore outgrown),
For through the years, God-measured, Thou alone
Shalt guide us onward to eternity.
