The following demonstration is forwarded to the Sentinel, with the hope that it may help some other young fellow when the test of Truth seems severe. For about six years Christian Science has been the only physician in my home, and it has always met every need. One of the greatest proofs I have had that Truth is an ever-present help in time of trouble, was in November, 1910, when I met with what seemed a serious accident.

I was working on a power-press, which was gaged to the width of an eighth of an inch for dishing dial tins, when my fore-finger was caught in the press. The finger from the first joint was flattened to the width mentioned, and part of the flesh remained in the press. On my reporting at the superintendent's office, he said that I must go to a physician immediately, but I told him that I was going to a Christian Science practitioner. I went home at once and my mother began to treat me. I was told by the superintendent that I must hold my hand in an upward position because of the pain and loss of blood, but I did not feel that this was necessary, so I carried my hand as was convenient, and can truthfully say that there was no severe pain.

That night I slept as if nothing had happened, and I never suffered any pain afterward. In exactly one week I went back to work on the same machine. No one else would run the press for fear of accidents, two having been hurt on this machine within three days. For several days after the accident my finger seemed to have no shape, and the end of the bone was visible all the time; but nothing was done in a material way except to put on a clean bandage each day. I, of course, had Christian Science treatment, and before the week was over the finger had begun to resume its natural shape. It healed rapidly, and today one could scarcely tell by looking at my hand which finger had been crushed.
