I wish to add mine to the long list of testimonies which have been helpful to so many, and if my experience should reach some troubled one who is suffering from the belief that sickness and suffering are allowed by God and must be cured by medical or surgical means, I would say that it is well to know that God made man in His image, but never made sickness. This truth came to me some time ago through the earnest solicitation of a Christian Scientist, and I delayed an operation which I had been told by two leading physicians, both authorities on kidney trouble, must be performed at once. I had suffered from this trouble for about two years, and it finally became so bad that I could not sleep. I was in this condition when I delayed the operation and stated my case to a Christian Scientist, and it gives me joy to say that I soon learned what it means to dwell "in the secret place of the most High." In less than two weeks I found that I was as well as I ever had been in my life.
I wish to add one more experience. For over thirty-five years I had used tobacco, and might be termed a hard smoker, but when I was relieved from the physical suffering the appetite for tobacco vanished, and there has been no recurrence of it. I am very thankful to God for the teaching contained in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and also grateful to the noble woman who gave this book to suffering humanity.
