THE LECTURES

An address on Christian Science was given in the town hall, Stratford, before a large audience, the lecturer, Bicknell Young, being introduced by Mrs. Ward, who said:—

On behalf of the Christian Science society of Leytonstone I extend to you a warm and sincere welcome. This society, and all who have labored in this neighborhood from the inception of Christian Science, are to be congratulated on the result of their activities. Paul planted, Apollos watered, and God is giving the increase. To those who have been lifted out of doubt, grief, and woe through its beneficent influence, to those who have been physically healed by it, Christian Science comes as no new message. But to those who, having light, are searching for more, in their churches and out of them, to the honest doubter seeking for truth, Christian Science brings a logical and rational explanation of life and its perplexities. The board of lectureship of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts, has been formed to correct popular misconceptions voiced through a section of the press and otherwise, to do away with promiscuous and unauthorized teaching and addresses, which are erroneous and misleading, and to give the public an opportunity of gaining some idea of the vital nature and operation of Christian Science.
