I do not know if there are yet any others in this town of five thousand people who hold to the Christian Science faith besides the writer. I used to think all who believed in Christian Science were cranks, and when my children who were living in a distant city espoused its cause and told of its wonderful works I expressed myself very forcibly against such belief. When they attributed my ridicule to ignorance of the subject and asked me whether I would read Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I told them that of course I would read it, so they sent me a copy.

I might say that for twenty-five years prior to this I had been taking medicine for internal troubles which several times brought me to a bed of sickness, and for a while it was a question of life or death; but when I had finished reading Science and Health for the first time, I awoke to a realization that my ailments were all gone, and since then I have had the best of health with the exception of a few slight attacks which were soon overcome. I have since then been a changed man. The old religious beliefs in which I had been brought up never did appeal to me, but the reading of the Bible with Mrs. Eddy's "key" has given me a clearer concept of things, and I am striving daily to advance in this knowledge.

Recently a stranger in our town was taken ill with a high fever while at one of the hotels. He asked if there were any Christian Scientists in the place. Some one had heard of me as such, and they sent for me. They young man who came after me told me there was a gentleman at the hotel who was very ill, and that he would not have a doctor nor take medicine, but wanted a Christian Scientist to visit him. He asked if I knew of any one in the city, and when I told him that I held to that faith he begged me to go with him, which I did at once. When I entered the room the patient began to tell me how ill he was. I said to him: "Brother, you are admitting error when you should deny it and cleave to that which is good." In the morning he called at my office well. He said that when he awoke in the morning all semblance of sickness was gone. I do not wish to take more valuable space or I could tell of numerous instances of healing.
