CAUSE FOR COURAGE

To do, to dare, to brave convention's scorn;
Achieving, where the coward dare not tread;
Rising as fearless as the light each morn;
Attempting that which recreant heart would dread.
Succeeding, where the fearful dare not go;
Persisting, undiscouraged by defeat;
In seeming tumult calm, because to know
That God made no provision for retreat
Means courage to the one who understands.
This, then, is what our glorious faith imparts:
To know that God doth govern, and His plans
Include no error, reassures our hearts.
Trusting, we know no evil will befall,
Though seeming discords surge on every hand.
What cause is there for fear, when one can call
On God, whom we now know and understand?
