It is with the deepest sense of gratitude that I acknowledge the benefits received through Christian Science. Before knowing of this truth I had not been able to leave my bed for a whole year, there being a complete breakdown of the entire system, brought on by great loss of blood from several severe hemorrhages. There was also heart and stomach trouble; in fact, as our physicians expressed it, I had only one sound organ in my body, namely, the lungs. I could not eat any solid food during that time and suffered untold misery even from liquid food. I had to be carried and handled like a baby, and was greatly reduced in flesh. In such a condition as this Christian Science came to me as a very present help in trouble. A kind practitioner from a city thirty-five miles distant came and stayed at our home two days, and before she left I was able to sit up a part of the time and could eat some solid food. Difficult breathing was relieved also. My greatest need was met at her first visit, but I continued to have absent treatment for some time.

My healing was slow, but for this I am thankful, as it has been the means of my gaining a better knowledge of this wonderful truth that makes free. I have received great help from the Christian Science periodicals and the Lesson-Sermons. I have also received help from other practitioners, for which I am grateful. We tried Christian Science as a last resort, after all other means had failed and there was no hope of my recovery.
